Temario

The objective of this course is to enable those who live far from the school (in Spain or anywhere else) or who cannot attend regular school hours, to be able to achieve the ITEC diploma in holistic massage in a flexible way.

The basic concept is that the student will take the major part of the theory of the course (Anatomy & Physiology with Pathology and Business Awareness & Professional Conduct) using an online platform. The platform will include: class videos, manuals and quizzes to simulate real ITEC questions.

The practical part will be done in the school in an intensive way (one full intensive week or spread over 3 weekends).

About the course:

This ITEC diploma provides you with an understanding of the systems of the human body, the origins and benefits of Holistic Massage and other complementary therapies, performing a full body massage, and marketing strategies. It also teaches you how to become a professional therapist, maintain health and safety rules in the workplace and exhibit your professionalism in your conduct and image as a therapist.

Modules:

(ITEC unit 1) Anatomy and physiology &ndash, e-learning course.

Anatomy is the study of the structure of the human body whilst Physiology is the study of the body functions.

This course follows the latest scheme of work set by ITEC, ensuring you qualify to the highest standards. You will gain an in depth knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology as well as Pathology (which is the study of diseases and disorders) of the following body systems: Skeletal, Muscular, Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Endocrine, Skin, Cells, Reproductive, Urinary, Neurological, Digestive and Lymphatic.

(ITEC unit 22) Business Awareness & Professional Conduct e-learning

The aim of this course is to :

• Provide the student with basic skills for finding employment,


• Provide the student with basic skills for starting their own business anywhere in general and in the UK or Spain in particular,


• Professional aspects and code of conduct,


• Health and safety regulations (first aid, fire safety, hygiene and sterilization),


• Prepare students for the ITEC exam in Business Awareness and Professional Conduct.


• The course will be done online and includes a manual and over 200 real ITEC questions.

(ITEC unit 2) Holistic massage&ndash, intensive course live in our school

Holistic massage is the most practiced form of massage in the western world, known also as Swedish or classical massage: It combines massage movements to manipulate soft tissues, improve muscle tone and circulation and to promote relaxation. Students will learn to perform a professional full body massage.

This part of the course which is mostly practical, will be done in our school in Fuengirola, (Costa del Sol, Spain) and includes:

• The history, theory and philosophy of holistic massage,


• Definition and purposes of massage,


• Psychological and physiological effects of massage,


• Contraindications to massage,


• Classical Swedish massage movements,


• Client care and modesty - towel draping,


• Massage mediums - oil, cream and talcum powder,


• a 1 hour full body massage routine,


• Preparation of consultation and case studies.

Capacity: minimum of 6 students and maximum of 16

Dates: 14th-18th September 9:30hr-17:30hr. (Option for a course spread over 3 weekends will be organized according to demand)

Accommodation: around the school are a variety of hostels and hotels within walking distance, with price range starting from 13 Euros a night.

For the practical classes you will need to bring:

• White polo shirt &ndash, will be supplied by the school


• Long white trousers that are not transparent (no logos)


• Closed white shoes and socks (no logos)


• 3 white bath towels

Exams and certification:

For the in-house diploma (approved by FENACO) scheduled for the 18th of Nov, 1:30pm in our school in Fuengirola

• Theory exam: one hour 50 multiple choice questions.


• Practical exam: 1 hour with oral questions.


• Summit 20 case histories (5 clients X 4 treatments each)

ITEC Exam (optional) :

Taking the ITEC exam is optional. Students will be able to work with the school in house certificate homologated by FENACO , but taking the ITEC exam is recommended for :

Worldwide recognition, especially in all the English speaking countries

Prestige, as ITEC is known for its high level of professionalism

The ability to continue to study in any other ITEC school worldwide (more than 100 schools)

ITEC exam structure:

Theory exam: three hours 150 multiple choice questions

• 50 questions on Anatomy (pass grade 50%)


• 50 questions on Massage (Pass grade 60%)


• 50 questions on Business Awareness (Pass grade 60%)


• Practical exam: 45 min with oral questions.


• Summit 20 case studies (5 models x 4 massages)

ITEC exam investment&ndash, 350 Euros in total (optional)

• ITEC preparation: 150 Euros for two days or whole weekend of practical and theoretical revision.
