About the course

Perhaps more than any other European university, Sheffield pushes its students to understand that architecture is about people.

With the skills to design buildings that meet environmental performance targets, you can compete for work in international markets.

Your study will include the building services, structural and architectural aspects of the built environment. The course prepares you for a career as a consultant engineer, sustainability consultant or researcher.

This programme is only available for full-time study.

The timetable is a blend of lectures, lab work, site visits and design projects. There are guest lectures by industry experts. Our industry partners also contribute to some teaching and dissertation supervision.

Over the summer, you',ll work on your own research dissertation. This might include lab work, field studies, modelling or all three. Some students work with an industry partner. Others link their dissertation to a research project in the department.

All our structures-based courses are accredited by The Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Structural Engineers, Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and Institute of Highway Engineers as satisfying part 2 academic base requirements for a Chartered Engineer under UK-SPEC.
