Canterbury English is a professional association of professors and students from all over the world. Canterbury English will provide successful graduates of our program the possibility of working up to 20-25 hours/week teaching English, if they so desire. Utilizing "FLEX" scheduling, Canterbury accomodates the needs of our participants and provides them with the maximum flexibility necessary to balance their time between studying, traveling, and working.
In addition to classes, different "Canterbury Club" events are sponsored throughout the year for all of our members such as: Flamenco Nights, Pub Nights, Concert Nights, Movie and Live Theater Nights, Bullfights, Football Matches, Picnics, Casino Nights, Golf Days, Grape Picking Day, Roman Ruins Trip, etc. that are featured in Canterbury's monthly newsletter. Moreover, Canterbury also sponsors cultural weekend trips to Toledo, Segovia, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, and other places of interest.

Courses begin on the first Monday of every month, except December, with a rolling application deadline. No teaching experience is required.

TEFL COURSE SCHEDULE:

THE TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS:

THE TEACHERS
All the teachers in the course have been involved in professional teaching and training for a number of years. They are still active teachers and therefore are fully aware of the classroom situations facing foreign language teachers today.
There will be a maximum student / teacher ratio of 8:1.
Each group will have input from at least three teachers during the course.
THE STUDENTS
Applications are welcomed from all interested parties, regardless of nationality. The only requirements are a proficient level of English, some study at the higher educational level and a willingness to adapt to the intensive nature of the course.

SPECIAL OFFER FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE TAKING
THE CANTERBURY TEFL CERTIFICATE INTERNATIONAL
Most of the students who do our TEFL certificate program, first take our Spanish course. A typical student does the Spanish program in lets say March, starts teaching English classes towards the end of March, informally in the afternoons. In April, they start the one month TEFL program (Teaching English as a Foreign Language, see TEFL), and continue to acquire more English classes until they have a minimum of 15 hours a week. The times of both programs are designed to leave you free to teach English classes in the evenings, while the courses are in progress.

For students who do both programs, there is a 50 % discount on the Spanish program (normally 999 Euros, now 499 Euros, and 200 Euros can be paid through teaching, which reduces the out-of-pocket cost to 299 Euros for the Spanish course). After finishing the Spanish and TEFL programs, the student is now a professionally trained English teacher and speaks lower intermediate Spanish (the level reached after the one month of intensive Spanish classes, if the student started with a beginning level).

The student now has all the tools to remain in Spain for a year or more, as a Spanish speaker and as a professional English teacher. We guarantee the student who does both programs a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 teaching hours a week for as long they wish.

·          Canterbury Newsletter: Boletín mensual donde se publican todas las actividades del Canterbury Club, además de un interesante reportaje y/o artículo sobre acontecimientos de interés, para realizar conversación-debate en las clases.

·          Alumnos y Profesores del Mes: todos los meses se premia a los mejores alumnos y profesores con una acreditación que incluye un reportaje, acompañado de fotos, de su trayectoria personal/profesional.
